Free Printable Doll Clothes Patterns – Make a robe
Ok, let’s get what you need to make these doll robes! Scraps of fabric are perfect for this project. You need a outer and lining fabric for each robe. You can PRINT the pdf pattern here. Read in printing instructions on the pattern page 1. You can print just one page for the doll robe and two pages for the bear robe. If you want to add font to your robe – You can download the Harry Potter font here.
Cut out the pattern pieces. You should have a back, two fronts, two hoods each from two fabrics. Then you should cut one binding fabric as directed on the pattern.
Sew a doll robe –
Start with the lining. Sew with a narrow 1/4″ seam allowance…
- Place the two front pieces right sides together on the back single piece. Sew the side seams and top of the arms. {leave the neckline open}
- Sew the curved edge of the hood.
- Line up the center of the hood with the center of the back of robe. Sew with right sides together. The robe may not come all the way around to the front edge of robe.
- You now have the robe lining complete.
Clip the seam allowance under each arm.
Sew the main fabric in the same way. You now have a robe made from lining and one from the main fabric. Place the robes together with WRONG sides together. Place the ends of the sleeves together as shown below. You will place the right sides together of the ends of the sleeve. The robes are not put together in any way. Sew the ends of the sleeves together. Examine the photos below before you sew.
Now you can pull the lining into the main robe.
Roll the robe from the hood end.. Place the right sides of the bottom of the robe together and sew to finish the bottom of the robe.
Pull the robe out from the side and you now have a semi-finished robe. We just have to finish the front edge.
Trim the front of the robe to meet the edge of the hood.
Fold the binding with right side of fabric touching and sew the short ends. Turn right side out.
Match the finished short ends with the bottom of the robe and pin up the front edges of the robe and around the hood.
Sew and top-stitch this seam. Use a zig-zag or serger to finish the edge before you top-stitch.
There you go! A super cute doll robe that you can make in two different sizes.
