Don’t these cute leggings look so sporty? The side pocket is perfect for holding your phone or other important things while we wearing leggings. I think the mesh is a lovely detail as well.
Like I mentioned you can use a legging pattern that you already have OR you can use one of my free legging patterns.
I love the combo of athletic fabric and mesh and actually made a pair just like this for me – but never took photos. Rose is wearing the kids free legging pattern here and mine are made from the women’s version.

Let’s sew some awesome leggings! I’m going to share a few tips for you here, but the full and detailed tutorial is in the video here. If you cannot see the video try a different browser or disable your ad blocker. Let me know if you have questions!
After you have cut your pattern a part as shown in the video, make sure you add a seam allowance on all the edges where you cut the pattern. The outside edges should contain the original seam allowance, so only the new cuts need it added back.
Before you sew the leggings together, assemble each side panel completely. I love adding the decorative stitching. You can you use a coverstitch or a decorative stretchy stitch on your sewing machine. My coverstitch was in the shop being cleaned when I sewed these, so I just chose another stitch from my sewing machine and it looks so good!
My seams are wavy, but this can be fixed by ironing or washing after sewing.
When you top-stitch try to do it right on top of the seam edge and seam allowance. This gives the leggings a very finished look. SO cute right? LOVE these! Try this hack on your favorite regular legging pattern soon!
