inside: Create a beautiful plant teacher gift with simple items and a free svg file. Use the included “thanks for helping me grow” file to create a lovely gift for your teachers.
It’s that time of year again, time to say thank you to our teachers. It’s been quite a year, and I’m so happy that it’s almost over. We are so excited to give our favorite teachers {that’s all of them!} these cute little plant teacher gifts were fun to make and to give. I also added a small gift card to the bottom of the pot to add a bit more to the gift.
Plant teacher gift with free svg file –
This is a very simple craft and you can create this with just a few simple items bought from Amazon. I also have so so many succulents growing, so that part was easy for me, but you may need to use a different plant if you don’t have so many succulents.
I love how easily succulents can be pulled apart and used in other places. What you see in the photo above started with just five small buds. They just keep growing and spreading and I love giving them away.
Other fun teacher gift ideas –
Alright, it’s time to walk through how we put these plant teacher gifts together.
Teacher gift supplies –
- succulents or other plants
- small pots
- bamboo stakes
- gift cards {optional}
- vinyl for tags
- free cut file for “thanks for helping me grow”
- cutting machine
You can also hand write on the tags, but if you want to hand write on the stakes you can do that as well. I will walk through the vinyl version here. DOWNLOAD THE SVG FILE HERE. After you have download and unzipped the free file, open the svg file on your cutting machine software. You can duplicate the file as many times as you need for your teacher gifts.
Cut the designs with your cutting machine.
Once you have cut your design, weed the vinyl with a weeding tool, or I even used a pin to pick the small pieces.
Grab your bamboo stakes and the cut vinyl designs. You will also need some transfer tape. Take a small piece of transfer tape and place it over the words. Lift the words off the paper with the transfer tape.
Place the tape and text on top of a bamboo stake and then run to stick the vinyl to the wood. Life the tape slowly and make sure each letter is stuck.
End of year teacher gifts –
I had the project prepped and ready for the kids to help with the planting part when they got home from school last week. the boys filled each pot half way with dirt then added the plant.
Place a succulent in each pot on top of the dirt and make sure the roots are buried in the dirt.
Here are all of our succulents in their cute little pots.
Now you can add the the cute little stake you create earlier. We added the child’s name to the back. I had a stack for each of my three kids to sign.
Now if you want to tape a gift card to the bottom of the pot you can add it now. I gave every teacher the same gift card this time, but sometimes I will give each one a card from their list of favorites.
