T-shirt Dress Pattern
$0.00
Pattern Details
Based off the girls free t-shirt pattern. I’ve shortened the bodice and added a pattern for a circle skirt or gathered skirt. Works with both woven and knit fabric in the skirt. More photos and tutorial here: https://lifesewsavory.com/t-shirt-dress-free-pattern/

Overall I like this pattern, although a note somewhere about sizing the neckband and a link to your perfect neckband tutorial would be helpful. I printed out the pattern pages and taped them together, then I used tissue paper to trace out the sizes I wanted (size 8 and the 10/12 size) so I don’t have to print the master pattern again.
I made my first knit dress with long sleeves using this pattern and your tutorials and am pretty pleased with the results. I am much more comfortable with woven fabric but am trying to embrace knits for my granddaughters. I used the size 8 without any alterations and the gathered skirt option and it came out very well.
I am now using the size 10/12 and noticed that the front and back pieces do not align at the armhole. If I align the front and back pieces along the bottom edge, the front side edge is almost 1/2 inch shorter than the side of the back piece. The size 8 did not have this issue. I’ve got the front and back pieces sewn with the neckband attached and now have to figure out how to tweak the pieces to make it work. I’ve not checked other sizes, but I recommend to others that you test your paper pattern pieces and tweak them if necessary before cutting your fabric.
I’ve bought a bunch of fabric and will be using this pattern to create new dresses for my granddaughters and I am very sure they are going to love them.

I think I can figure it out, but the downloaded pattern has two page sixteens that have pattern lines that are different from one another so I assume the first it page 16 and the second is page 17 and there is no page 18, which sort of makes sense since there are two page sixteens followed by a page 17. If someone was not a super confident seamstress, this might throw them off. Just letting you know my thoughts. Other than that, I’m really excited to make matching dresses for my grand daughters!

QUESTION: What is the mini-version circle skirt pattern piece (one size only) thats superimposed over the top of thr circle skirt pattern (pages13, 14, 15) and upwards over the side of the long sleeve (pages 9, 10, 11)???? I went to cut apart the pieces today to place them on the fabric I have and ended up not doing so because I got too uneasy not knowing what this was. I’d have to cut completely through it because it is over the gap between the sleeve and circle skirt pattern pieces! HELP!!!

I am making this for the first time – I decided to print and tape the master pattern and trace a size 4 & 8 to make matching dresses. However, I can’t seem to find out where the yardage is! Is it on the Master Pattern? Also, I prefer to see the tutorial include a print out version as I make a pattern envelope and it’s nice to have all together. Seems easy enough – but I just don’t know how much fabric to buy!

Made a size 5 previously for my granddaughter and would have rated it a 5 – fit her perfectly. Now, a few years later she fits into the measurements of a size 8 but after having made the bodice up it is much too short – especially in the front piece which is 2.25″ shorter than the back if I lay them out with the shoulder seams at the top. 1.5″ of that is in the armhole as the front armhole is that much shorter than the back. I’ve gone back to the pdf file to double check if I made an error but using Adobe’s measure tool what I cut out matches the pattern file. Fortunately I have enough fabric to cut another one, just have to figure out how to redraft it to fit the already cut out sleeves (which appear to be longer than the armhole as cut. And re-do the embroidery that I’ve already completed on the front! Grr! I guess you get what you pay for.
