This is verson 2.0 of my winter purse free sewing pattern! Made from sweatshirt fabric and cotton, this is a fun second version of my original winter purse pattern. I’ll give you a link to the free pattern and tutorial at the bottom of this post. First I want to show off my NEW bag! Make sure to check out all my Free sewing patterns here.
I sewed this up live on my facebook sewing show. Have you been tuning in? Anyway, I was able to sew this in about an hour, while talking and answering questions… so it is a really quick sew. I wanted to try this with sweatshirt fleece. It’s a nice thick fabric, so I thought it would give the bag a bit of structure, and I really think it turned out well. The pleate isn’t as defined as the orginal, but it’s still super cute.
This is a one zipper version. My original had 2 zipper pockets on the front. I only had one zipper I wanted to use with this fabric though, so this is a modified version from the original. It’s a perfect pocket for my phone though.
I love the lace trim. It gives a soft touch to the sweatshirt fabric.
I used a magnet clasp for a closure. It’s just enough to keep my things safe.
I love that it has three difference compartments. The flowers are a bit busy for finding small items, but I still love the fabric.
Cute right? It blends in a bit with the outfit I was wearing last week, but I’ve been carrying this purse for a few weeks now nad it’s been great for my daily needs.
You can grab the FREE PATTERN and TUTORIAL on the original post.. download the purse pattern and the tutorial in 2 files. You can print the tutorial or watch the video below for help in putting this bag together.
This was recored live so there may be some questions that were asked that you won’t see the questions..
Here are a few other purse/bag patterns I’ve shared in the past.

This looks like a fun sewing project. I’m not big into doing stuff like this anymore but I’d like to do get involved again. I discovered after making home-made Christmas stockings for DD#2 and her husband this past Christmas how much fun it is to craft. Thanks for sharing your pattern design! I’m visiting from Inspire Me Monday!
