inside: this potato soup is a family favorite whenever it is cold. We love the little zing of flavor it has as well.
I love soup! And I love this zesty potato soup recipe! In the winter months I make it a lot. My husband is also a huge soup fan.. the kids… not.so.much. But that doesn’t stop me from making lots of soup and I’m always looking for new recipes. A few years ago I found this recipe when I was looking for holiday party recipes. I wanted to make a big batch of soup to serve at my husbands’ staff dinner. It turned out great and I’ve made it several times since then. When I was thinking of a recipe that used Tabasco, this popped into my mind. Tabasco is what makes this potato soup so zesty, and different from my other potato soup recipes.
Zesty Potato Soup Recipe –
This Zesty Potato Soup Recipe is quite easy to make if you have all the ingredients ready. Add Tabasco to your liking, we like it hot, so I used more, but taste as you go.

How to make potato soup –
Did you know Tabasco comes in several flavors? I’m most familiar with the original, but when I was picking mine up for the recipe I saw that it also comes in Jalapeño, and Chipotle flavored sauces… makes me want to try those too!
I love to serve bread with my soup. For this meal I made easy biscuits from a mix, but I also love my easy homemade bread recipe….. and my whole wheat bread sticks recipe.
I think the toppings are what make a soup really amazing, you know? They give great texture and more flavor to this already tasty soup. You can also personalize the flavor of the soup by adding more bacon or whatever you really like.
Do you have a favorite soup recipe? Or Tabasco recipe? I’m always looking for more ideas!! What soup recipes are your favorite?

It sounds delicious but way too fattening! I’m going to try to substitute a few things and see how it turns out. Never would have thought of tabasco
Emily says
I already took out the half and half it called for!! You could use lower fat milk for sure!!

This looks really good! I don’t like the taste of Tabasco so I’m going to try to substitute Frank’s Hot Sauce (which I love the taste of!). I hope it turns out!
Emily says
I’m sure that would give the same heat!

I love to make razor clam chowder ’cause I live at the ocean, and I wonder now if Tabasco would spice the chowder up also? Oh yes and by the way , I am a quilter also.
Emily says
oh yes! I bet that would be a great flavor in the chowder too!!

This soup was delicious, I was skimpy with the tabasco and I also added 1/2 cup diced onion. The was for night one .Still had a lot of “lumpy” but yummy soup left. Day two, I heated the soup and I cooked a bag of Broccoli In the micro for about 5 minutes In a micro safe covered dish. Put a batch of zesty soup in the blender to smooth it out a little then added a cup of cooked broccoli with a little broccoli water and pureed it. Poured the soup into bowls, added the cheese a few flowerettes, and bacon bits…into the micro until the cheese is melted. Beautiful presentation and very tasty potato, broccoli bisque. I think for day three I will freeze the rest, hope it freezes well.
Emily says
ooo that sounds like it would be really yummmy!! thanks so much for sharing your alterations!!
