Inside: Sew a coordinating summer Pajama set with free sewing patterns. Three free patterns all sewn in fun fabric make up this four piece set. Pjs for every summer weather situation.
My daughter asked me to sew her some new summer Pjs. It has been getting warmer around here, so she needed warmer weather pajamas. I decided to make a pj set, so she has some options as the spring weather continues to go up and down. This four piece set should last her through next fall and cover all the temperature options she needs.

Summer Pjs coordinating set with free patterns
I’ve sewn Rose coordinating Pj sets before, but they were a combination of summer and winter weather options. Today I’ve got another four piece set option, but these are all geared toward warm, summer/spring weather. I also still had some vintage sheet fabric left from a few years ago when I sewed some pjs for her, and I think all the pieces turned out beautifully!
Here you can see the four pieces I sewed. The pants/shorts are made from the same sheet fabric and the same pattern. One is shorts with about a 4″ inseam, and the other are capris with cuffs for a slightly warmer summer pant options. They are still light and airy, due to being sewn from a sheet.
The two tops I chose to sew are a knit tank, and a knit semi-fitted tee. The tank is made from a soft cotton lycra and the tee is made from tri-blend t-shirt fabric. I used knit rib fabric for the binding on both tops.
All the pieces can mix and match, and I love how they go together. I would have made the shirts from the same fabric, but I was using up scraps and came up with these fabrics from my stash.

How to sew summer pajamas
If you want sewing details for each of these patterns Ill link to the original tutorials below. In this post I’ll just be giving you some tips for modification to make these patterns perfect for pajamas.
These photos show how you can adjust the pattern to fit in between sizes since the pattern has a few sizes that cover a large range of sizes.
Here’s the tank and t-shirt sewn up with soft cozy fabric.
For the shorts you can use the sheet edge for the hem if you have some original edge on the sheet. My sheet has made several shorts already, so didn’t have any edge left, for these shorts I cut and hemmed when sewing. If you are using the sheet edge for the bottom hem, I would shorten the pattern by 1″ when cutting out.
For the capri version of the pants I cut a wide cuff. The cuff was 6″ tall by the width of the bottom of the pants. Fold the cuff in half with the long edge together and sew the two raw edges to the bottom of the pants. I top-stitched this seam for a finished look.
Ok! those are my tips for changing up the patterns to make cute and comfy pjs! I’m sure you can use these same patterns and make them work for you. enjoy!!
