You can’t go wrong with puff pastry appetizers and this savory version with tomato and onion is delicious. You can also make this savory puff pasty appetizer with pesto for added flavor.
I think you can put anything on a puff pastry and it tastes good {ha!} But, these puff pastry appetizers are really, really tasty. NOT kidding! You can eat as an appetizer, snack or even a light meal. We ate this for dinner when I made this last week. YUM! It’s best eaten right away, but it was even good reheated.
Crispy puff pasty crust, cheese with spices and veggies on top, this savory puff pastry appetizer is just perfect for any event or party. The pesto is optional, as I know that not everyone likes you. You can also do as I did and make the pan half/half to please everyone. My kids gobble this up as well becuase I think it’s *just* close enough to a pizza look/taste. My husband could eat this everyday {or so he says} so it’s a win with our family.
I love how simple it is to work with puff pasty… makes me seem like a better cook than I actually am {haha!}
I put the cheese under the veggies as I like the tomato and onion to crisp a little bit in the oven.
Bake 12-15 min. at 220C or 425F and it comes out looking beautiful! Simple and delicious, a hit for just your family or entertaining a crowd.
