Inside: Share the Love of Sewing with others through the relaxed environment of a drop in sewing lounge.
I’ve been to SNAP! Conference for a few years now and it’s always a great time of meeting others who sew and write and also learning more about how to create great content for YOU my readers. The weekend is very life-giving for me and I come back ready to make new fun patterns and tutorials for you.
This year at the conference I hosted the sewing lounge, we had four different sewing projects that people could drop in and make anytime during the day. Here is a picture of me in front of our room with a list of all of our amazing sponsors for the projects!!
Share the Love of Sewing –
I planned four easy sewing projects that were perfect for beginners and experienced sewers alike. This was the first year we did a drop in sewing room like this and we weren’t sure how it would go. I’m happy to say that it went better than I could have ever hoped. We used up all the supplies I had gathered over the three days and the machines got a good workout too.
Here was the project table. The papers on the left had the instructions on them for the four projects and the supplies to make those projects are on the right. Here were the four projects we made –
Sunglasses case made from cork
Fabric Key Fob
The sewing room ended up being a fun place for people to hang out. We had so much fun talking about sewing {lots and lots of sewing talk!!}
I didn’t spend the whole weekend in the lounge because there were other talented helpers who volunteered their time. It was so fun to see a few people trying sewing for the very first time. The sewing room helpers included –
Heather from Heather Handmade
Monica from Sookee Designs
Lisa from Maybe She Made It
Gemmia from Phat Quarters
Chelsea from GYCT
Karly from Paisley Roots
Brother gave us some combo machines that had sewing as well as embroidery functions and there were some creative embroidery designs made. The back of the glasses case was perfect for adding embroidery too.
Have you seen the Oliso Irons? They have little legs on the bottom and as soon as you release any pressure from your hand the legs pop up and the heat is off your fabric. You cannot burn your fabric or clothes with this iron – it’s amazing!!
Our amazing sponsors-
So that’s my latest big project wrapped up! I’m currently prepping for more episodes of It’s Sew Easy and a couple of segments for Make It Artsy also on PBS where I will be making some Scan N Cut projects. Even more ways coming to share the love of sewing with others. Thanks for reading!!
