It’s free pattern day!!! I made this purse weeks ago, and have been planning to share this free purse pattern since then… but you know.. I lost all my photos… and have delayed posting this. Yesterday I got back some of my photos… the folder that held the purse photos? well it wasn’t good news for the purse {ha!}… My solution.. I’ve re-shot the main photos and I’ve drawn up some very awesome illustrations for the tutorial. Please don’t judge my drawing ability, but do let me know if you have questions!! I’m happy to help! **Update** more photos were recovered!! So the not-so-great illustrations have been replaced with real photos! {yeah!!!}

This purse is easy to sew, is a great size and has all the pockets you could need!! Zipper pockets on the front for your important stuff and two big pockets inside, one on each side.
The inside pocket is perfect for my mommy traveling pharmacy.
With a big pleat in the middle this bag carries everything I need! The finished dimensions are 4 x 10 x 12″ plus the straps.
I love the zips on the front of this purse. I used big chunky zippers and they keep my phone and transport card safe.
Here is what the free pattern looks like printed and taped together. {please let me know if you find any mistakes!!}
It also gives the fabric needs and other supplies right on the pattern.
You can print the Purse Pattern Instructions and free purse pattern with these links.
If you have any questions about the instructions or pattern you can leave them in the comments and I will get back to you ASAP!

Really great bag! Sorry to hear you lost ‘m in the first place. I can relate to that feeling!!! Oh yes! Thanks for going through the trouble of redoing some of the photos. Thanks for the pattern, and we look for your inner greatness, not judge you by unfortunate circumstances! So no worries. All smiles, Rose

thank you!! so sweet!
Danielle says
very cute! I’ve been wanting to put together a bag for carrying my kids stuff around in that isn’t too “diaper bag” looking. This may work well!

How smart you are to put pale fabric on the inside, dark fabric might not show up stains but I can never find anything so I always go for pale fabrics now.
PS: I love your scrolly font for when your adding a comment :o)

Great purse – I love the staggered zippers on the front. This would actually be big enough for all the stuff I lug around on a daily basis. Time to raid my fabric stash! Thanks for sharing!

I DO like this pattern. Although I’m fairly knew to sewing/quilting this looks like something I can do. One question, please. I use a cane and, consequently, always carry a cross body purse so I can keep one hand free. Are you able to suggest a way to make this cross body? I tried making longer handles and putting both across my body. That is not a good solution. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Emily says
I would make only ONE long strap and attach it at the ends instead of on the side. I think that would work for a cross carry purse… let me know how it works out!
Bunny says
If I choose not to use a leather type for the sides, do you think it would be ok as long as I used some sort of heavy interfacing or stabilizer?
Emily says
yes! that should be fine!! You just need something with some weight for the sides…

I love the look of this bag and the instructions look pretty clear so I am itching to make it. However I am fairly new to sewing and although I can see the pattern (sadly the print is blurry on my pc) there don’t appear to be any measurements on the pieces, with the exception of the strap. I know the bag is 12″x10″x4″ but can you tell me the sizes of the pieces I need to cut out please.
Emily says
Hi Joyce, so you have to click the link that says free purse pattern right under the photo of the pattern. This will take you to download the whole thing. It won’t be blurry when you download it and then you should be all ready to go! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I also am unable to see any dimensions for the pattern pieces. Please put these in your comments when you reply. Thank you so much. Love the bag.
Emily says
You can find the size of the purse by downloading the free pattern, thanks!

I know this is about a year old, but can you tell me where you got the fabric? I love the colors!
Emily says
I love this fabric too! Unfortunately I bought it in a fabric market in Hong Kong…
Sarah says
Guess I’m on my own then, lol Thanks for letting me know!
I’m a semi beginner, trying to make a “teacher bag” for my sister-in-law who’s a middle school teacher. Do you think this bag or the Perfect Purse Big Summer Bag would be easier for me to tackle? I love both the patterns and how roomy they each seem…I just don’t want to get in over my head haha
Julie O'Rear says
I love this pattern, I got the instructions but could not get the pattern to download, I tried 2 different browsers.
Any tips.
I LOVE the colors

I’m going to send it to your e-mail. hope that helps! Emily
