Those of you who have been following me for awhile know that every summer we try to create some sort of matching kids clothes for the cousins on my side of the family. And by we I mean “me”. {haha} It’s been a challenge for me over the years as the number of kids have grown and today I’m going to show you this years coordinating childrens {cousin} outfits as well as a look back at all the previous years.
Cousin matching outfits –
Whew! The crew is getting big – and so many!! There are now an even dozen kids on my side of the family and this year we went with 4th of July themed outfits. It’s always a challenge to get a good photo of this crew, but we are all pretty happy with the results.
I posted this photo on instagram and facebook after we took it and a few people thought these were all my kids! I guess I have to be more specific when I say family photo… COUSIN photo {haha} Only three of these are mine.
I probably should do a better job of scotching out where everyone will sit/stand when choosing what fabrics to use for each kids. I just randomly made dressed of different fabrics for kids in each family, and we had to move kids around to spread out the fabric prints.
Of course we always have to do a silly photo too!

Now for some of the details about the patterns I used for this years cousin photos. The coordinating childrens outfits seen here are all sewn from free sewing patterns. The girls are all wearing the free Galena Dress by LLK. You can find more details about this dress here. The tiny tiny baby is wearing the free baby romper pattern by me.
And finally the biggest cousin {my 14 year old niece} wanted a swing style dress and I lengthen the Girls Swing top size 16. I tried to make it a cute dress length, but it was too short to wear as a dress. So.. I used my moms sewing machine and shortened it back to a shirt length. Surprisingly, this was the only thing that didn’t fit right!
The boys are wearing white shirts {that I didn’t sew} and my free sweat shorts pattern. These boys are all within three years of ago and wear just two different sizes… Easy to sew for! We always do a serious photo with them…
And then to see their handsome smiles.
Coordinating Childrens Outfits – Fabric
I’ve used fabric from many, many sources over the years… you can find the details for each year in the post for that year. Raspberry Creek Fabrics releases the most amazing seasonal collections each year and this year I couldn’t pass up the summer French Terry and Double Brushed Poly.
The free Galena dress in Brushed Poly is just amazing. Each one fit like a dream and were so soft and twirly.
Here are a few more fun photos from this year’s photo shoot.
Here is my oldest son with his youngest cousin. And the girls are all my sisters… She just her her fourth girl recently. You can see all the fabrics used this year on my sister’s four girls.
Ok! Ready to take a look at past years? This is always fun for me to put together and look back as well.
